Llama Llama Season 2: Netflix Review

The Netflix original show Llama Llama is an American children’s animation web series that premiered on the streaming platform with a 12-episode Season 1 on January 26, 2018, and earned a favorable response from the target audience. The show is produced by Genius Brands and based on a children’s book series by American author and illustrator Anna Dewdney which follows Llama Llama, who learns about fun, friendship and new things with his Mama Llama (voiced by Jennifer Garner). On June 19, 2018, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season which will be released on November 15th, 2019 on Netflix.

“I love Anna Dewdney’s award-winning, joyful Llama Llama books and am proud to voice Mama Llama on this very special series for Netflix,” Garner said. “And now — great news! — Mama Llama and Llama Llama will be back for a second season! Thank you, Netflix. I can’t wait to get to work!”

The show presents its positive messages in the form of small stories in each episode. These stories usually start off with a misguided action by the titular character Llama Llama or his friends, which results in one problem or the other. However, under the gentle and wise guidance of Mama Llama and other adult characters in the show, the youngsters gradually learn to make better choices, open themselves up to new experiences, and resolve conflicts in constructive ways.

The values emphasized in the show are important for kids to learn, and the show stresses on themes like friendship, empathy, kindness, respect, and generosity. Further, despite being a show for kids, ‘Llama Llama’ has a general appeal and can be watched by adults too. Season 2 will look to do more of the same and continue in the same vein. It will be based on the books but what part it will recreate still remains to be seen.
