Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer
‘Don’t F**k With Cats’ is a three-part true-crime documentary and categorized ‘Controversial’ by the Netflix officials. It is directed by Mark Lewis (Silk Road: Drugs, Death And The Dark Web), executive produced by Dimitri Doganis and Adam Hawkins for Raw with Felicity Morris, Raw’s newly-appointed head of U.S documentary development, as a producer. The series is being described as “A twisted story that keeps twisting…” and boy, does that ever show in the trailer. Series is all set to air on Netflix on Dec. 18.
The film follows a group of internet surfers who came across a video of a then-unidentified man cruelly killing two kittens. This sparked an international chase to identify what many people believed to be a future serial killer. In the trailer, we see interviews with a number of individuals involved in the search – as the action skips from America to Russia, to Paris and even London. The amateur detectives have a lot of information at their disposal from the uploaded footage, analyzing door handles, voice accents caught on camera and even electrical plugs in the wall. ‘Clearly, this video is not the end, something bad about to happen’ one of the interviewees said. We’re then told that ‘in the seedy underbelly of the internet, there’s an unwritten rule, rule zero.
Director Mark Lewis said in an interview, “What is so mind-blowing for me about this documentary series is that it plays out like a real thriller, with twists and turns that no-one will see coming, a cast of internet heroes whose resourcefulness will have you cheering from the sidelines, and a murderer whose true identity will have you gasping when he is finally unmasked.”
Netflix has published a video on December 4, 2019, along with a short description, “When a video is posted online of a mysterious man killing two kittens, internet users across the world leap into action to find the perpetrator. Encouraged by the attention he’s receiving, the killer continues posting ever more disturbing videos, eventually crossing into murder. From the producers of The Imposter and Silk Road, Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer only on Netflix December 18th.
